Sven Roeder 3:33 Exactly!

While M Atkinson made some errors in our game vs Manu, I think he's head & shoulders above the rest in terms of fairness, competence & most importantly honesty

Re: Robert "Bobby" Madley
Referees have always been bad though, in the premier league.
Do you recall when the Man U players chased that useless cunt Andy D'Urso round the pitch. That was the first penalty given against Man United at Old Trafford for more than six years.

Re: Robert "Bobby" Madley
Mike Riley is in charge of the refs having taken over from Keith Hackett.
Obvious explanation for the shower of incompetent cunts that abound.
Someone like COLLINA should be given the job with a free reign to bring in competent refs from wherever.

As for Madley .... how can you trust anyone who looks like that and say he is 30. You are joking matey

Re: Robert "Bobby" Madley
He wasn't the biggest cunt on the pitch.
That honour must surely go to Fabregas. Trying and succeeding to get Adrian booked after the penalty was disgraceful. He joins McCarthy in my list of players I want something nasty happening to.

Re: Robert "Bobby" Madley
Need to get Pierre-Luigi Collina out of retirement.

I actually think the current crop are not necessarily biased, but massively incompetent and easily influenced. A significant number of refs in this country are simply not good enough. I would look at getting in best in the world from abroad to improve the standard.

Long term there has to be video replays. I don't see how we can be in the 21st century and having someone tripping themselves up outside the area given as a penalty. I actually think the first goal was even worse error, lining the wall then allowing more than 10 yards by moving the ball back. Its clueless and incompetence.

Not saying refs are bent but this thread reminded me of this gem from scudamore a couple of years ago.

Re: Robert "Bobby" Madley
Regardless as to whether the Payet incident was or not a foul Atkinson did exactly what any official should if they are not 100% sure with a penalty appeal and that is to not give it, whereas Madley and his officials on the other hand did when clearly they could 100% sure either so that automatically for me gives anyone the right to question their integrity.

A park football ref would of done a better job than that cunt.

Money for old rope being a professional referee.

Entry requirements: 2 GCSE passes and an IQ of at least 70.

Mr Madley just about scraped-through, I reckon, judging by his facial features.

Re: Robert "Bobby" Madley
Nothing bent about it, but a typical weak-willed, star-struck ref blinded by the "big club", home crowd and players he's heard of. In his head - whether consciously or not - he'd decided that Chelsea were the good guys and West Ham were the bad guys and officiated accordingly. Have been seeing that from referees for yonks.

Also, there seemed a lot of yellow cards (8?) in what wasn't a dirty game. Competitive, but not dirty.

Re: Robert "Bobby" Madley
That ref in the 2nd half definitely favoured Chelsea in every 50/50 (and most 60/40's too). Why, I do not know.

Re: Robert "Bobby" Madley
this isn't a new thing. one of the main reasons I gave up my season ticket was because I was sick of the piss poor referees week in week out. you only had to see a cunt like rob harris down as the referee to know we were going to get fuck all off him. back then they weren't earning the money they do now, but they still spoilt many people's weekends by their braindead decisions

Re: Robert "Bobby" Madley
I remember back in the Brian Moore Jimmy Hill era they were convinced that professional referees were the only way forward. How wrong they were. The ones today are total wankers, so removed from the game it's untrue, totally biased towards the football establishment, it makes you pine for refs like Jack Taylor and Roger Kirkpatrick! They're never held to account for this total total incompetence, even by their own ruling body, never knowingly rebuked for shit game after shit game, not being able to spot obvious cheating - lots of it obvious to everyone, except perhaps for a demotion to the Championship for a week or two. It seems as if the refereeing body just doesn't care about the downward spiralling standards whatsoever. I agree with the other poster who said that refs could be influenced by third parties, and it's only a matter of time before a Premier ref is found to be taking bungs.

Crassus 1:00 Sun Mar 20

A minority of two, perhaps.

If he was bent, he would have awarded Chelsea at least two other penalties for handball. They weren't penalties, but the opportunity was there if so inclined.

I've said it before that most referees don't have a feel for the game, so there should be a move towards retired players becoming referees.

Re: Robert "Bobby" Madley
I did have to laugh when he waved play-on for a foul on one of the Chelsea players (Willian maybe?) outside our box towards the touchline, then called him back for the freekick when he was about to shoot from a much, MUCH better position.
